Islamabad Traffic Police has issued a warning urging citizens to remain cautious of fraudulent e-challan messages circulating through SMS and WhatsApp. The department advised the public to avoid clicking on any links included in such messages, noting that these links may direct users to fake websites designed to steal personal or financial information.

The police stressed that citizens should never trust unverified messages or suspicious links claiming to be related to traffic violations, regardless of how official they may appear. Anyone who receives a doubtful or fake e-challan notification has been advised to report it immediately, either to the police directly or to the Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency, giving citizens a clear channel to flag suspicious communications rather than engaging with them directly.

Islamabad Traffic Police further instructed the public to verify and check their e-challan status exclusively through the official government website, rather than relying on links sent via text messages or messaging applications such as WhatsApp. The department reiterated that this precaution remains essential to prevent citizens from falling victim to online scams disguised as legitimate traffic communications.

The advisory adds to a growing pattern of similar warnings issued by traffic police departments in different cities across Pakistan, as fraudulent e-challan schemes continue to circulate nationally, exploiting the growing shift toward digital traffic enforcement systems to trick citizens into revealing sensitive personal or financial details through fake payment links and impersonated official messages.
