Indus AI Week 2026 began at Islamabad Sports Complex, bringing together national and international AI and information technology companies to foster collaboration and align artificial intelligence policy direction. The initiative, led by Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications, aims to accelerate AI adoption, strengthen talent development, encourage startups, and position Pakistan in the global AI ecosystem.

The programme provides a coordinated national mechanism connecting policy, skills, industry, and innovation through structured engagement across universities, research institutions, and companies. Central to the week-long event is the Indus AI Summit, which focuses on high-level dialogue, international engagement, and setting the country’s AI priorities. Alongside the summit, an Innovation Learning and Engagement Arena has been established to allow startups, industry leaders, students, and technology enthusiasts to interact with AI solutions and explore emerging technologies in a large-scale hands-on environment.

Participating universities, companies, and institutions from across Pakistan are aligning their activities under the Indus AI Week umbrella. In an interview with Radio Pakistan Correspondent Shehzad Ghauri, Director PSEB Dr. Zunaira Saqib said artificial intelligence is increasingly shaping governance, economic competitiveness, workforce development, and public service delivery. She highlighted government-led AI training programmes for students and educational institutions to develop awareness and practical skills, while a dedicated startup pavilion provides a platform for innovative AI-powered products and solutions.

S&P Global representative Huma Maqbool described the initiative as timely and necessary, emphasizing strong youth participation and innovative showcases. She noted that the event includes AI-powered robotics, climate-related technology projects, and interactive displays designed to empower future generations with digital skills. According to Maqbool, initiatives like Indus AI Week play a critical role in bridging education, industry, and policy, ensuring Pakistan’s emerging talent is prepared for opportunities in the technology sector.

Indus AI Week will continue until February 15, offering structured opportunities for knowledge exchange, workshops, and collaborations among public and private sector participants. Through the summit, engagement arena, and innovation showcases, the event aims to translate AI policy and strategy into actionable outcomes, promoting workforce development, startup growth, and technology-driven public service improvements. By combining policy direction, international partnerships, and hands-on learning, Indus AI Week underscores Pakistan’s commitment to building a dynamic and inclusive AI ecosystem.
