Higher Education Commission Pakistan has invited students enrolled in computer science and information technology programs to register for the upcoming National Skill Competency Test, an assessment designed to evaluate technical skills and strengthen the country’s growing technology workforce. The commission announced that students currently studying in the seventh and eighth semesters of their degree programs are eligible to participate in the test and are encouraged to complete their registration before March 20, 2026. The initiative aims to help identify skilled graduates and connect them with opportunities in Pakistan’s expanding information technology sector. According to the commission, the assessment will allow students to demonstrate their technical knowledge while also helping the industry gain access to a broader pool of emerging talent.

Officials said the National Skill Competency Test forms part of ongoing efforts to support the development of a competitive technology workforce in Pakistan. By evaluating students’ capabilities before graduation, the program seeks to bridge the gap between academic training and industry requirements. The commission has advised students to submit their applications through the official portal available at https://nsct.hec.gov.pk, where they can access registration forms and related instructions. Students have also been encouraged not to wait until the final days before the deadline in order to avoid potential delays in completing their applications. The assessment process is intended to ensure that students entering the professional market possess the practical skills needed to meet the demands of employers operating in Pakistan’s fast growing digital economy.

According to details shared by the commission, the test is scheduled to take place on April 4 and April 5, 2026. Once registered, students will receive information regarding their test centers and other relevant instructions through official communication channels. Universities participating in the program have designated focal persons to assist students with queries related to registration and the examination process. A list of these focal persons is available through the Higher Education Commission portal at https://linkd.in/dX4gQapP. The commission noted that students who successfully complete the process will become part of a national talent pool designed to support the country’s information technology industry and encourage collaboration between academic institutions and employers.

The initiative has been developed in collaboration with organizations working to expand Pakistan’s technology sector, including Pakistan Software Export Board and Pakistan IT Industry Association. By creating a structured platform to assess and identify skilled graduates, the program aims to strengthen the connection between universities and industry while preparing students for careers in areas such as software development, digital services and emerging technologies. Officials believe the National Skill Competency Test can help highlight promising talent from across the country and support the broader goal of expanding Pakistan’s technology exports. As the information technology sector continues to grow, initiatives that encourage skill development and industry readiness are expected to play an increasingly important role in building a sustainable pipeline of professionals capable of contributing to the country’s digital transformation.
