Higher Education Commission has announced the top achievers of the National Skill Competency Test NSCT 2026, recognizing outstanding performance among IT students from universities across Pakistan. The assessment is regarded as a national benchmark for evaluating graduate competencies in computing and information technology domains. This year, more than 33,000 students participated in the test, representing 188 universities, reflecting strong engagement from the academic community and the growing importance of standardized skill evaluation in the country’s digital landscape.
The results highlight the performance of top ranking students who demonstrated high levels of technical knowledge, problem solving ability and readiness for industry requirements. The highest score recorded was 97 percent, followed by other leading performers achieving scores above 90 percent. These results indicate a competitive environment among participants and showcase the capabilities of emerging IT talent being developed through higher education institutions. The merit list includes students from a diverse range of universities, including public and private sector institutions from multiple regions.
NSCT serves as a structured initiative conducted under Prime Minister’s directives to establish a standardized evaluation framework for IT graduates. The test is designed to assess competencies in key areas such as programming, analytical thinking and practical application of technology concepts. By creating a unified benchmark, the initiative aims to align academic outcomes with industry expectations and support the development of a workforce that meets evolving technological demands. The participation of a large number of universities also reflects increasing collaboration between academic institutions and national skill development initiatives.
The recognition of top achievers is expected to contribute to greater awareness around skill based assessment and encourage students to focus on practical competencies alongside academic performance. As Pakistan continues to expand its digital economy, initiatives such as NSCT play an important role in identifying talent and supporting workforce development. The announcement underscores the role of higher education institutions in preparing students for careers in technology while contributing to the broader objective of strengthening the country’s digital capabilities.
