Google has confirmed that its Nest Mini and Nest Audio smart speakers have both been discontinued, with the company stating that as it continues building the future of the smart home, it is refining its portfolio of Google Home and Nest devices, and as part of that evolution has ended production of both models.
The discontinuation clears the way for the new Google Home Speaker, which is expected to introduce a new generation of Gemini-powered devices to the company’s smart home lineup. Based on currently available information, the Nest branding will no longer be used for speakers and displays going forward, marking a naming shift alongside the hardware transition. Google’s new speaker is priced at £99 or $99 and is expected to launch imminently, fitting into a Spring 2026 release window after first being announced the previous year.
While Google will not manufacture any further Nest speakers and the devices are no longer stocked in the company’s official United Kingdom and United States stores, some retailers may continue to carry remaining stock of the discontinued models. For existing owners of the Nest Mini or Nest Audio, there is no urgency to upgrade to the new Google Home Speaker, since Gemini for Home is supported across all existing Nest speakers and displays already in use. Google reaffirmed its commitment to supporting these legacy devices, stating that it remains deeply committed to its smart home ecosystem and to the millions of people who use its products every day, and confirming that existing Nest Mini and Nest Audio devices will continue to receive regular software updates, security patches, and customer care despite no longer being in active production.
