Applications have opened for the inaugural Google DeepMind Accelerator programme in the Asia Pacific region, focused on what the company calls AI for the Planet. The three month programme is designed for AI focused startups, research teams, and non profit organisations across the region working to address some of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges through frontier artificial intelligence.
The accelerator is open to organisations building solutions centred on nature protection, sustainable agriculture, forest protection, and related environmental themes, with Google DeepMind looking to help selected participants scale their impact using the company’s most advanced AI capabilities. Between 10 and 15 organisations are expected to be selected to join the inaugural cohort, each receiving access to the Google AI stack, including specialised frontier models, along with tailored technical and business support from Google experts for the duration of the programme.
Participants in the accelerator will receive equity free support throughout the three month engagement, along with ongoing access to the wider Google Accelerator Alumni Network once the programme concludes. The support includes training tailored to each organisation’s specific technical and business challenges, exclusive invitations to Google hosted technology bootcamps, and dedicated mentoring from Google teams and AI experts covering technology, product development, and business strategy. Selected teams will also work directly with Google DeepMind and Google Research specialists to build AI solutions using Google’s broader AI infrastructure, including its frontier models.
Eligible organisations may also receive Google Cloud credits and free access to Cloud TPUs, subject to eligibility review and approval, giving smaller teams and early stage projects access to computing resources that would otherwise be difficult to secure independently. The programme is set to begin with an in person bootcamp in Singapore, before culminating in a Demo Day where participating organisations will showcase their solutions to a network of mentors, investors, industry partners, and Google teams.
The launch responds to growing recognition that green technologies are gaining traction across Asia Pacific but are not scaling quickly enough to match the pace of environmental threats facing one of the world’s most climate exposed regions. Organisations interested in applying can submit their applications through the accelerator’s official channels, with Google encouraging eligible teams across the region, including those working on nature, climate, agriculture, sustainability, or energy focused projects, to register their interest ahead of the programme’s formal launch.
