Croatia’s Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Gordan Grlić Radman, arrived in Islamabad on a one-day official visit, marking the first-ever visit by a Croatian foreign minister to Pakistan. The visit reflects the growing momentum in bilateral relations as both countries seek to expand cooperation in diplomacy, trade, investment and regional connectivity. Senior officials from both sides described the engagement as an important step toward strengthening political dialogue and unlocking new opportunities for collaboration.

During high-level meetings with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, both sides discussed enhancing economic cooperation, increasing trade and investment, strengthening institutional partnerships and exploring new avenues for collaboration within the framework of Pakistan’s relations with the European Union. The leaders emphasized that the strategic geographic locations of both countries offer significant potential to improve connectivity and promote greater commercial engagement between South Asia and Europe.

A key outcome of the discussions was the commitment to expedite the establishment of a Croatian visa processing facility in Islamabad. Once operational, the facility will allow Pakistani applicants to obtain Croatian visas locally instead of traveling to a third country, simplifying the application process and facilitating greater business, educational and tourism exchanges between the two nations.

The visit underscores Pakistan’s broader efforts to strengthen diplomatic and economic engagement with European Union member states while expanding international partnerships. Officials from both countries expressed optimism that continued high-level exchanges and closer cooperation would contribute to stronger bilateral relations, increased economic activity and deeper collaboration across multiple sectors in the years ahead.
