Federal Investigation Agency has introduced an artificial intelligence based system designed to enhance its ability to identify and track wanted individuals by generating updated visual representations from existing data. The development is part of a broader effort to modernise law enforcement operations through digital transformation, with officials stating that the system can account for physical changes in appearance over time. By analysing older photographs and producing refreshed visual profiles, the technology enables authorities to improve identification accuracy even in cases where individuals attempt to alter their look.

According to officials, the new system is being integrated into the agency’s red book, which contains records of most wanted individuals across multiple categories of crime. The updated version of this database will not only include enhanced visuals but also a wide range of additional information such as details of family members and known associates, identification records including national identity and travel documents, contact information and financial data. The database will further incorporate case related information, including first information reports and the status of court proceedings, allowing for a more comprehensive and centralised approach to investigations and tracking.

The initiative also includes expanded documentation of operational patterns, particularly in cases related to human smuggling networks. Authorities are compiling information on routes, areas of operation and recent movements of individuals involved in such activities, with a specific focus on those listed in ongoing investigations. Officials indicated that over one hundred individuals linked to such cases are already included in the database, with further updates expected as investigations progress and additional data is consolidated.

Leadership at Federal Investigation Agency has described digital transformation as a central component of its reform agenda, emphasising the shift from manual and fragmented processes towards integrated systems that enable real time monitoring and improved coordination. The use of artificial intelligence is expected to enhance efficiency, transparency and data driven decision making, while strengthening accountability mechanisms within the organisation. Alongside this initiative, efforts are underway to upgrade key infrastructure, including centralised monitoring systems, as part of a wider move towards modern law enforcement practices in Pakistan.
