The Federal Directorate of Education has launched a centralized online admission portal for the academic session 2026-27, marking a significant step in the digitization of school admissions for institutions under the FDE’s jurisdiction in Islamabad Capital Territory. Officials said the portal has been introduced to streamline the admission process and provide a transparent, centralized platform for students and parents, with the system allowing applicants to check real-time seat availability and view merit lists for various classes and schools.

The portal allows applicants to search and select institutions based on specific facilities, including transport services, meal options, Early Childhood Education centres, and the availability of morning and evening shifts. It also provides information on Matric Tech programmes offered in selected institutions, along with detailed admission guidelines. The inclusion of facility-based filters is a particularly practical addition, as it allows families in Islamabad to make more informed decisions based on their specific logistical needs rather than having to contact individual schools or visit them in person to gather basic information about available services.

Officials confirmed that the portal can be accessed at https://eadmissions.fde.gov.pk/portal, adding that the initiative reflects efforts to use digital solutions to enhance service delivery and expand access to education. For a directorate that oversees a large number of schools and colleges across the capital, a unified digital admissions gateway removes a layer of administrative friction that has historically made the process cumbersome for both applicants and institutions. The move aligns with the federal government’s broader push to bring public service delivery online, and in the context of education, it sets a precedent that other provincial and federal education bodies may look to replicate as demand for more accessible, technology-driven administrative processes continues to grow.
