Economic Coordination Committee ECC has approved a Technical Supplementary Grant of Rs. 2.11 billion for the procurement of bulletproof vehicles, citing pressing operational and security requirements. The decision was taken during a meeting held at Finance Division in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb. The session brought together senior federal ministers, advisers, secretaries, and top officials from relevant ministries and regulatory bodies to review and approve agenda items critical to government operations.

Following a detailed review of the Defence Division’s funding request, ECC approved the grant for bulletproof vehicles to ensure the safety and operational readiness of key state functionaries. Officials emphasized that the allocation addresses immediate security concerns and operational imperatives. A senior official commented that the approval demonstrates the government’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the protection and effectiveness of personnel involved in essential state functions.

In addition to security-related funding, ECC sanctioned a summary from Cabinet Division to award reward money to Pakistan Under-19 Men’s Cricket Team. Finance Minister Senator Aurangzeb highlighted that recognizing emerging sports talent motivates young athletes to perform on global stages while reflecting the government’s efforts to support excellence in sports. The move underlines a broader policy focus on combining national security priorities with initiatives that promote youth development and engagement in international competitions.

At the outset of the meeting, committee members offered Fateha for former finance minister and ex-SBP governor Dr. Shamshad Akhtar. Senator Aurangzeb paid tribute to her contributions, noting that several institutional and tax reforms implemented in subsequent years were first conceptualized during her tenure. Her vision continues to shape economic governance and policy frameworks in Pakistan.

Technical Supplementary Grants are routinely approved to address urgent or unforeseen requirements not covered in the original budget allocations. The latest approvals by ECC highlight a dual approach by the government that balances national security imperatives with initiatives to encourage talent and excellence in sports. These measures also reinforce continuity in economic policies while responding to operational and social priorities across public sector institutions.

By supporting both security infrastructure and youth achievement, ECC’s decisions illustrate how targeted funding can address multiple national objectives simultaneously. The approval of bulletproof vehicle procurement and rewards for young athletes reflects a commitment to structured investment in critical areas that impact governance, public service, and the nurturing of emerging talent across Pakistan.
