The Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan, in collaboration with the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry, organized an Intellectual Property Rights Awareness Session at SCCI. Welcoming participants, SCCI President Syed Ahtesham Mazhar appreciated IPO-Pakistan’s efforts to raise awareness among the business community about the importance of protecting and effectively utilizing intellectual property rights.

IPO-Pakistan Chairman Dr. Hafiz Aziz ur Rehman highlighted the importance of IP registration for businesses, innovators and creative communities, emphasizing that the organization is committed to promoting a strong IP culture across the country while significantly improving service delivery standards for both domestic and international stakeholders. His remarks tied directly into IPO-Pakistan’s broader digital transformation push, following the organization’s recent engagement with the Pakistan Digital Authority on modernizing its business processes and services.

IPO-Pakistan Director General Nauman Aslam underscored the vital contribution of the business community to Pakistan’s economic development, particularly highlighting Sialkot’s prominent role as a major export hub. He also announced the establishment of a Technology and Innovation Support Center at SCCI, aimed at supporting small and medium enterprises, startups and the wider business community in protecting innovative ideas and leveraging intellectual property for economic value, giving Sialkot’s business community a dedicated local resource for IP related support going forward.

Muhammad Ismail, Director of Patents at IPO-Pakistan, delivered a detailed presentation covering the importance of intellectual property rights, their registration and protection, as well as key aspects of IP enforcement. The session concluded with an interactive question and answer segment, during which participants actively engaged with IPO-Pakistan officials on practical issues relating to intellectual property protection and registration, giving Sialkot’s export focused business community direct access to guidance on safeguarding their innovations and creative work.
