Digital Foreign Direct Investment Forum (DFDI) is set to return in September 2026, following the inaugural edition in Islamabad last year, which brought together international investors, policymakers, and technology innovators. DFDI 2025 served as a platform to showcase practical applications in artificial intelligence, fintech, and other emerging technologies. The forum enabled participants to engage with global experts, learn about investment opportunities, and explore ways to apply technology to enhance business processes and digital infrastructure. Last year’s event attracted delegates from over 45 countries and led to investment pledges of nearly $700 million to support technology-driven growth across Pakistan.

While speaking to a local business media brand, IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja emphasized the significance of DFDI in supporting youth, startups, and cross-border collaboration. She stated that one of the main objectives of DFDI is to help young talent make the best use of technology while creating shared platforms for human resources. The Minister highlighted that the forum enables dialogues on building resilient digital infrastructure and managing regulatory frameworks in a rapidly evolving technology landscape. Insights from her interview can be accessed here.

DFDI 2026 aims to expand its reach by including a larger segment of technology startups, emerging AI companies, and fintech innovators. The initiative seeks to create more employment and export opportunities by connecting Pakistan’s talent pool with global markets. Participants will be able to learn from real-world experiences in scaling digital solutions, integrating them into business operations, and collaborating across borders. The forum will continue to provide a platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and investment facilitation, reinforcing Pakistan’s role as an emerging hub for digital innovation in the region.

Beyond showcasing technology and investment prospects, DFDI encourages collaboration between public and private sectors to accelerate digital transformation. Entrepreneurs, engineers, and government representatives will interact to exchange ideas, establish partnerships, and identify areas for growth. By connecting global investors with Pakistan’s tech ecosystem, DFDI 2026 is expected to reinforce the momentum from last year’s event and further support the country’s digital economy. Participants interested in learning more about the forum and accessing resources from previous sessions can find details here.
