The highly anticipated Borderlands 4 has officially landed as of August 1, 2025, bringing with it an exciting crossover for Fortnite players. Those who purchase or pre-order the game through the Epic Games Store can immediately unlock the Mad Moxxi skin set in Fortnite. This exclusive offer runs until September 12, 2026 and is not available on other platforms.

For everyone else, the wait won’t be too long—the skin will arrive in Fortnite’s item shop on September 29, 2025, at 8 p.m. Eastern Time, and remain available until October 6, 2025. This alternative option means that even those who don’t buy Borderlands 4 can still grab the cosmetic in-game later in the year.

Community reactions have been mixed but largely enthusiastic. One player commented, “The skin looks great, but my computer can’t run Borderlands 4, so I’ll just wait until it’s in the shop.” Another added, “It’s cool they’re doing this crossover, but waiting until the end of September isn’t too bad compared to buying the full game just for a cosmetic.”

Some gamers have already taken advantage of Epic Rewards credit to lower the cost, making the purchase more tempting. “I got it for around $20 using rewards credit, which is about what it would cost in V-Bucks anyway,” one player shared. Others are holding off for practical reasons, noting that game prices often drop after launch and that patience can pay off.

There’s also excitement about what could come next in the crossover. Suggestions from fans include cel-shaded styles for other Borderlands characters like Psycho and Claptrap, or even a one-handed Buzz Axe variant to mix up gameplay. These ideas highlight the community’s appetite for more creative, stylized content in future updates.

While early access through the Epic Games Store is a nice perk for dedicated players, the upcoming Fortnite shop release ensures that the Mad Moxxi skin will be within reach for the broader player base. Whether you’re jumping in now or waiting until late September, it’s clear that this crossover has struck a chord with fans of both franchises.
