The Arfa Karim Foundation, in collaboration with the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF), is expanding its Digital Literacy Programme to provide students with essential digital skills and prepare them for an increasingly technology-driven future. The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide by introducing young learners to modern digital tools and practical technology skills, enabling them to confidently participate in today’s digital economy. Through this partnership, both organizations are working to strengthen digital education and ensure students have access to learning opportunities that extend beyond traditional classroom instruction.

The programme focuses on equipping students with foundational digital competencies that are becoming increasingly important across education, employment and entrepreneurship. By exposing learners to digital technologies at an early stage, the initiative seeks to enhance their ability to conduct online research, use productivity tools, understand emerging technologies and develop problem-solving skills. These competencies are expected to improve academic performance while preparing students for higher education and careers in an economy where digital literacy has become a fundamental requirement across nearly every profession.

The collaboration with the Punjab Education Foundation enables the programme to reach students studying in PEF-supported educational institutions, extending the benefits of digital learning to a broader segment of young people across Punjab. The initiative also supports efforts to reduce educational inequalities by providing access to technology-focused learning opportunities that may otherwise be unavailable to students in underserved communities. By combining educational support with digital skills development, the programme aims to create more inclusive learning environments and help students compete in an increasingly connected world.

Beyond classroom learning, the Digital Literacy Programme is designed to inspire innovation, creativity and lifelong learning among participants. Students are encouraged to explore new educational pathways, develop critical thinking abilities and build confidence in using digital technologies to solve real-world problems. As Pakistan continues to accelerate its digital transformation, initiatives such as this play an important role in developing a future-ready workforce equipped with the skills needed to contribute to the country’s growing technology ecosystem and knowledge-based economy. Through continued collaboration between educational institutions, nonprofit organizations and public sector partners, the programme seeks to empower the next generation with the tools and knowledge required to succeed in the digital age.
