USAID and P@SHA have collaborated to launch a capacity development series aimed at inspiring the next generation of gaming and animation professionals in Pakistan. The inaugural session of this series took place at the Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology in Haripur, with the goal of equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving gaming industry.

Under the guidance of Raheel Iqbal, Vice Chairman of P@SHA and Chair of the Games Committee, the session focused on various aspects of the gaming industry, including launching gaming start-ups in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), leveraging games for business purposes, and understanding the essential skills for pursuing ventures in game development. The session was designed to offer students practical insights into the gaming world, helping them understand how they can turn their ideas into viable business opportunities.

The interactive session was enriched by panel discussions featuring distinguished experts from the gaming and animation sectors. Muhammad Hilal, Chairperson of IGDA Pakistan, Yaser Awan, a mentor and evangelist, and Omer K, CEO of Maida Apps, shared their experiences and knowledge with the students, offering valuable advice on how to succeed in the competitive gaming landscape.

Representatives from P@SHA, including Aleem Abbas and Syeda Safa H., also took part in the session, emphasizing the organization’s ongoing commitment to fostering talent and driving innovation in the gaming sector. They highlighted the role of partnerships like the one between P@SHA and USAID’s ERDA (Economic Recovery and Development Activity) in creating pathways for students to connect with industry leaders and gain the skills necessary to make an impact in the field.

The event marks the beginning of an exciting series of capacity-building initiatives that will continue to take place at leading universities across the region. These sessions are aimed at providing students with access to the tools, mentorship, and networking opportunities they need to succeed in the world of gaming and animation.

As the gaming industry continues to grow, collaborations like the one between P@SHA and USAID are instrumental in helping young professionals build successful careers while contributing to the development of the broader tech ecosystem in Pakistan.
