The UK-based mobile analytics business Opensignal has released its most recent analysis on Pakistan’s mobile network usage experience in Q2, 2022. As Pakistan’s telecom sector forges ahead toward 5G while overcoming current obstacles, it is important to note that this study is not yet complete.

Opensignal, an independent worldwide standard for assessing consumer mobile experiences, has devoted itself to figuring out what customers actually feel while using wireless networks.

The research evaluates how each network stacks up against the others after analysing the mobile network experience of Pakistan’s consumers on the four national mobile providers Jazz, Telenor, Ufone, and Zong over a period of 90 days, from April 1, 2022, to June 29, 2022.

These mobile networks were contrasted in terms of 4G coverage and availability, download and upload speeds, video streaming quality, and gaming performance. Based on how each brand performed in each category, it was assigned a score.

With first-place finishes in four of the ten categories (Download Speed Experience, Games Experience, Availability, and 4G Coverage Experience) and a tie for first in four more—including three awards with Jazz (Voice App Experience, Upload Speed Experience, and 4G Availability) and the Video Experience award with Ufone—Zong easily dominated the majority of Opensignal’s awards.

The Consistency Awards went to Ufone for both Outstanding Consistent Quality and Core Consistent Quality, on the other hand.

Gaming Experience

Pakistani smartphone customers on the Zong mobile network get the best experience possible when playing multiplayer mobile games.

As a result, Zong completely dominates Games Experience and exceeds its prior success with Jazz. Zong currently leads Jazz, who is in second position, by 3.4 points.

Excellent Consistent Quality

Ufone surpassed Zong, the runner-up, in both Consistency categories with scores of 49.7% for Excellent Consistent Quality and 75.6 percent for Core Consistent Quality.

Uploads and Downloads

Zong also receives the Download Speed Experience award. Zong customers in Pakistan had the fastest download speeds, with average internet speeds of 11.4 Mbps, which was 0.7 Mbps better than Jazz customers.

With third-placed Ufone, the gap between Zong and other carriers was 19.3 percent, but with Telenor users, it was a startling 204.6 percent higher.

Ufone was determined to be faster in terms of 4G download speed, with an average of 15.7 Mbps.

Zong and Jazz split the award for the Upload Speed Experience. Customers of Jazz and Zong regarded their upload speeds as the best, with no statistically significant difference between their average upload speeds of 4.3 and 4.4 Mbps.

Ufone’s average upload speed was somewhat lower than Telenor’s, at 3.9 Mbps, whilst Telenor’s upload speed was just 2 Mbps.

4G Coverage and Availability

Customers of Zong have access to 4G in around six out of ten locations. With a score of 5.9 on a scale of 10, Zong also won the 4G Coverage Experience award, beating Jazz and Telenor by 0.6-0.7 points and Ufone by 3.5 points.

Jazz and Zong tied for first place in the 4G Availability category with scores of 84.8 and 85.4% each, Telenor came in second with 80.4%, while Ufone came in last with 68.7%.

This shows that more than 80% of the time, customers of Jazz, Zong, and Telenor can connect to 4G mobile services.
