Transworld Associates (TWA), Pakistan’s foremost Submarine IP Capacity Provider, has entered into a strategic partnership with Wateen Telecom, the country’s leading Fiber Infrastructure Provider for Enterprises, marking a significant step forward in Pakistan’s journey toward digital transformation. The collaboration will see Wateen’s expansive long-haul fiber infrastructure—spanning more than 6,000 kilometers—supporting TWA’s efforts to roll out a next-generation Dense Wavelength-Division Multiplexing (DWDM) network across Pakistan.

The agreement was formalized in a signing ceremony attended by senior executives from both organizations, with Mr. Saad Muzaffar Waraich, President of TWA, and Mr. Adil Rashid, CEO of Wateen, leading the proceedings. This strategic alignment not only solidifies the companies’ roles as central figures in Pakistan’s telecommunications landscape but also lays the groundwork for a broader vision of a connected and resilient digital Pakistan.

Through this partnership, Wateen will provide critical infrastructure services to TWA, including fiber operations and maintenance, and co-location facilities to ensure optimal performance and seamless deployment. This move is expected to significantly enhance the quality and resilience of data connectivity across the country, benefiting businesses, consumers, and government institutions alike. By leveraging Wateen’s widespread fiber backbone and combining it with TWA’s submarine capacity expertise, the two entities are aligning operational strengths to meet the surging demands for high-speed internet and robust digital solutions.

Speaking on the occasion, Saad Muzaffar Waraich highlighted the importance of the partnership in meeting the evolving connectivity needs of Pakistan and beyond. He emphasized that the deployment of advanced infrastructure via Wateen’s network positions TWA to deliver best-in-class services while setting the stage for future innovations. He noted that the alliance is not only a technical milestone but also a symbol of how collaborative efforts can unlock new avenues for digital empowerment across the region.

Wateen CEO Adil Rashid echoed this sentiment, underscoring that the agreement represents more than just infrastructure sharing—it is a visionary collaboration aimed at building a digitally resilient Pakistan. He said the partnership is intended to not only support the current digital landscape but to proactively shape a more connected and sustainable future. Rashid added that both companies share a commitment to excellence, innovation, and growth, which will be key drivers of their success in this venture.

In addition to the primary agreement, the two companies are also exploring extended areas of collaboration. These include consumer connectivity solutions, international private lease circuits (IPLC), and the resale and distribution of international bandwidth. Another forward-looking element of the partnership is the consideration of solar energy solutions, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability alongside technological advancement. These initiatives signify a holistic approach to building a digital ecosystem that supports not just communication needs but also economic and environmental goals.

The TWA-Wateen alliance serves as a powerful example of how strategic partnerships can catalyze large-scale transformation in the ICT sector. As Pakistan moves toward a future increasingly shaped by digital innovation and global integration, collaborations like this one will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the country is well-equipped to compete, connect, and thrive in the digital age.
