Telenor Pakistan hosted its Sustainability Expo 2026 at its headquarters in Islamabad, bringing together employees, environmental innovators, and solution providers to showcase practical, climate-conscious solutions designed to reduce everyday environmental impact. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Abrar Hussain, Director General of the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency, alongside Telenor Pakistan’s leadership team, reflecting the institutional significance attached to the initiative and the growing importance of private sector-led sustainability platforms in advancing Pakistan’s national climate agenda.
The Expo featured a diverse range of environmental innovations spanning materials, energy management, and behaviour change. Highlights included construction bricks manufactured from recycled plastic, reverse vending machines that reward users for returning plastic bottles, a selection of eco-friendly consumer products designed to minimise waste and conserve natural resources, and Internet of Things-based solutions for real-time energy optimisation and conservation. Interactive live plantation activities and urban gardening demonstrations added a hands-on dimension to the event, allowing attendees to directly engage with sustainable practices and take concrete lessons home to apply in their own households and communities. Director General Hussain toured the exhibition floor, engaging with exhibitors and commending Telenor Pakistan for creating a platform that encourages people to rethink everyday habits and adopt more responsible ways of living, noting the significant role that private sector-led events can play in accelerating Pakistan’s sustainability agenda.
Areej Khan, Chief People Officer at Telenor Pakistan, said the company believes sustainability is not just a corporate commitment but a shared responsibility that begins with each individual, describing the Sustainability Expo 2026 as a space where innovation meets inspiration and where every interaction plants the seed of positive change. She added that Telenor Pakistan is proud to stand alongside its employees, partners, and the wider community in driving a future that is both digitally connected and environmentally conscious. The event reflects the depth of Telenor Pakistan’s long-standing environmental commitments, which include participation in Pakistan’s first-ever low-carbon Energy Storage as a Service project, a deployment of 25 megawatt-hours of battery infrastructure designed to eliminate over 21 million litres of diesel consumption and reduce approximately 1.1 million generator run hours annually across the company’s network sites.
Telenor Pakistan operates its Environmental Management System in alignment with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13 on climate action and has received international recognition from the Society for Human Resource Management for its sustainability impact. The Sustainability Expo 2026 connects these institutional commitments to a practical, community-facing format that makes climate action tangible for the thousands of employees, partners, and visitors who attended the event in Islamabad.
