A delegation from The Dawood Foundation, led by Vice Chair Sabrina Dawood and Engro Group Chief Executive Officer Ahsan Zafar Syed, met with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to discuss future collaboration aimed at expanding Karachi’s science, heritage and public learning landscape. The meeting brought together senior representatives from both the foundation and the provincial government to explore ways of building out the city’s informal education and cultural infrastructure.

Discussions during the meeting centered on forming meaningful partnerships to expand informal learning opportunities through the TDF MagnifiScience Centre, while also supporting initiatives focused on celebrating and preserving Karachi’s cultural heritage. The two sides explored how continued collaboration between the foundation and the provincial government could help extend the reach of science education programming already underway at the center, while giving greater visibility to heritage preservation efforts across the city.

Officials involved in the meeting said the combined focus on science education and cultural heritage is intended to create public spaces that encourage curiosity and innovation while contributing to a more vibrant and inclusive city. The meeting was also attended by Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi, TDF Chief Executive Officer Favad Soomro, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Agha Wasif Abbas, Engro Chief of Staff Faraz A. Jafri, and Dawood Corporation Chief Governance Officer Christoph S. Sprung, reflecting broad institutional representation from both the private and public sector sides of the discussion.

The meeting reflects a continuing pattern of collaboration between private foundations and the Sindh government aimed at improving public access to science education and cultural experiences in Karachi. As the city continues to grow, officials from both sides indicated that partnerships of this kind are expected to play a growing role in shaping how public learning and heritage spaces develop across Karachi in the years ahead.
