The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Revenue Department has decided to digitize government land records and develop a real time alert system designed to detect encroachment on state owned land across the province. The decision was made during a high level meeting chaired by KP Minister for Revenue Tariq Mehmood Aryani, attended by key stakeholders and relevant departmental authorities.
Under the new system, relevant officers will receive automated alerts whenever encroachment on government land is detected, allowing for a faster response than the manual monitoring methods previously relied upon. According to a statement issued after the meeting, if an officer fails to take action once an alert is generated, the system will record the officer’s tenure during which the encroachment occurred and flag that officer for inaction, introducing a built in accountability mechanism tied directly to the digital alert process.
The meeting also addressed the digitization of fard issuance, with officials deciding that citizens will be able to obtain a fard through the Dastak App and NADRA’s e-Sahulat service, removing the need for physical visits to revenue offices for this particular document. Officials further agreed to adopt geospatial technologies, including Google Earth and RS-GIS, for site marking purposes, a move intended to reduce reliance on manual involvement by patwaris in the land marking process and improve the accuracy of boundary records across the province.
The meeting further decided that all mutation processes tied to land ownership transfers will be fully digitized to improve transparency and efficiency in how such records are updated and maintained. In addition, revenue staff have been given a clear deadline to resolve pending land dispute cases, reflecting a broader push to bring greater accountability and consistency to the province’s land administration system as the digitization drive moves forward across multiple areas of the department’s operations.
