Sindh government has announced plans to modernize Karachi’s public transport system by introducing 500 electric buses. This initiative aims to address the city’s growing traffic congestion and air pollution issues.
Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has directed relevant departments to expedite the process of finalizing the project. The electric buses are expected to provide a more efficient, environmentally friendly, and comfortable commuting experience for Karachiites.
In addition to the electric buses, the Sindh government is also considering the procurement of 300 diesel-hybrid buses for intercity routes across the province. This move aims to improve connectivity and reduce reliance on private transportation.
The government is also reviewing the Yellow Line BRT project, a 21-kilometer corridor that will connect Dawood Chowrangi to Numaish. The project is being designed as a third-generation BRT system, with the possibility of incorporating battery-electric buses.
These initiatives are part of the Sindh government’s broader plan to transform public transportation in the province and provide affordable, reliable, and sustainable mobility solutions for its citizens.
