The Punjab government has opened applications for the Chief Minister Punjab E-Bike Scheme 2026, allowing eligible students across the province to register online for subsidized electric bikes. Applications officially opened on September 5, with students required to complete the registration process through the official Punjab government portal. The scheme is part of the provincial government’s efforts to provide students with more affordable transportation while encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles.
Students can begin the process by visiting bikes.punjab.gov.pk and selecting the “Apply Now” option under the Chief Minister Punjab Green Initiative E-Bikes Scheme. Applicants with a valid driving licence must enter their full name and gender exactly as they appear on their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), along with an active email address and CNIC number. They are also required to select their province according to the information on their driving licence. Students who do not have a valid driving licence are provided with a separate option on the portal to continue with the application. During account creation, applicants must also set a password containing at least 12 characters, including an uppercase letter, lowercase letter, number, and special character.
After creating an account, applicants are directed to the application dashboard, where they must complete five mandatory sections covering personal details, parent or guarantor information, educational institution details, references, and declarations. Students are required to provide accurate information in each section because discrepancies or incomplete information could affect the application. The Punjab government’s scheme provides 100,000 electric bikes to students enrolled in government and private schools, colleges, and universities across more than 33,000 educational institutions in the province. The official Punjab government information also states that eligible applicants must meet specified student and licensing requirements, with selection subject to the applicable allocation and balloting process where applications exceed available quotas.
Under the 2026 scheme, each electric bike has a listed cost of PKR 199,000, while students will pay PKR 109,000 under the subsidized arrangement. The student contribution will be paid over 36 months, with the monthly installment set at approximately PKR 3,028. The Punjab government will cover insurance, mark-up, and registration costs. The electric bikes will be available in different colors, while pink bikes are specifically designated for female students. The initiative is intended to make daily transportation more accessible for students while supporting the provincial government’s wider push toward electric mobility. With applications now open, eligible students can begin the registration process through the official portal and complete the required information and declarations online.
