Ayaz Ahmed Uqaili, Member for IT Industry Development at the Science and Information Technology Department of the Government of Sindh, visited the Pakistan Digital Authority headquarters for discussions on the country’s digital transformation agenda. He met with PDA Chairperson Dr. Sohail Munir, Chief Digital Public Infrastructure Officer Dr. Sahibzada Ali Mahmud, Chief of Staff Sophia Hasnain, and other senior officials of the authority during the visit.
The discussion centered on several core areas of Pakistan’s digital transformation efforts, including building out digital public infrastructure, deepening cooperation between different levels of government, encouraging innovation and speeding up the delivery of citizen focused digital services. Officials framed the meeting as part of a broader effort to bring provincial and federal digital initiatives into closer alignment, recognizing that much of the country’s progress on digital reform depends on how well different tiers of government coordinate with one another.
Federal provincial coordination emerged as a particular point of focus during the discussion, with both sides exploring how federal and provincial institutions can work together to build a more integrated, secure and interoperable digital ecosystem for the country. The conversation reflected an understanding that Pakistan’s digital transformation cannot be driven by federal institutions alone, since many public services and much of the underlying infrastructure ultimately fall under provincial jurisdiction, particularly in a large and populous province such as Sindh.
The Pakistan Digital Authority described the meeting as part of its wider approach to working with provincial governments, federal institutions and industry stakeholders on national digital reform. Officials said this kind of coordination across different levels of government forms the basis for the authority’s broader push toward inclusive digital governance, with continued engagement between federal and provincial bodies seen as necessary for advancing a more connected and consistent digital ecosystem across the country in the years ahead.
