The Senate Secretariat is preparing to launch a comprehensive mobile application for Members of the Senate as part of a digital transformation initiative led by Chairman Senate Senator Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani, marking a step toward institutional modernisation and digital governance within Pakistan’s upper house of parliament.

The application has been developed entirely using indigenous resources and the professional expertise available within the Senate Secretariat, reflecting an in-house technical capability rather than dependence on external vendors or imported systems. The progress of the project was reviewed during a meeting at Parliament House, where Secretary Senate Syed Hasnain Haider briefed Chairman Senate and committee members on the application’s development, key features, and expected benefits. Senator Gilani emphasised that the initiative supports the broader implementation of the e-Office concept within the Senate Secretariat, noting that digitalisation would improve efficiency, reduce paperwork, enhance transparency, and provide quicker access to official information, while also highlighting the environmental benefits of reduced paper consumption and minimised administrative delays.

According to the Senate Secretary, the application has been designed to give senators secure and convenient access to parliamentary business and official information directly through their mobile devices. The platform will offer real-time access to Senate proceedings, legislative business, committee information, official notifications, parliamentary documents, and schedules, consolidating a range of previously fragmented information sources into a single accessible interface. Officials said the application has been developed with a strong focus on security, accessibility, and ease of use to ensure a seamless digital experience for members of the upper house, and believe the platform will meaningfully improve communication, accessibility, and workflow management within the institution.

Chairman Senate appreciated the efforts of Senate Secretariat officers and the technical team behind the project, describing the application as a major advancement toward a digitally empowered Senate and stating that adopting modern technological solutions would save time and resources while strengthening institutional effectiveness and service delivery. The meeting was informed that the Senate Mobile Application will be formally launched in the near future, with a comprehensive orientation session to follow its inauguration in order to familiarise senators with its features and ensure effective utilisation. The session was attended by Senators Nasir Mehmood Butt, Aamir Waliuddin Chishti, Abdul Qadir, and Samina Mumtaz Zehri, along with senior officers of the Senate Secretariat.
