The Punjab government has officially launched an electric bus service for Patriata, one of the province’s most popular tourist destinations, as part of its ongoing efforts to modernize public transportation and promote environmentally friendly mobility. The initiative is designed to provide tourists and local residents with a cleaner, safer and more comfortable travel experience while reducing traffic congestion and vehicle emissions in the scenic hill station.

The newly introduced electric buses will operate on key routes serving Patriata and surrounding areas, offering visitors a reliable transport option during the busy tourism season. The service is expected to improve accessibility for thousands of tourists who visit Murree each year while supporting the provincial government’s broader vision of expanding sustainable public transport beyond major urban centres. The buses are equipped with modern passenger amenities and are intended to deliver a quieter and more environmentally responsible commuting experience.

The launch forms part of Punjab’s wider electric mobility programme, under which the government has been steadily expanding electric bus services across multiple districts. In recent weeks, new routes have been introduced in several cities and towns, with additional buses and charging infrastructure planned as part of the province’s long-term transition toward low-emission public transportation. The broader initiative aims to reduce dependence on conventional fuel-powered vehicles while improving connectivity and transport services across Punjab.

By extending electric public transport to a major tourist destination, the government is combining tourism development with environmental sustainability. The project is expected to enhance the visitor experience, support local businesses and contribute to cleaner air in one of Pakistan’s most visited hill stations. As Punjab continues investing in green mobility, similar initiatives are likely to be introduced in other tourist and urban destinations across the province.
