PTCL has successfully secured financing for the acquisition of Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers (Private) Limited. The IFC-led consortium, comprising the Silk Road Fund (SRF) and British International Investment (BII), has provided up to USD $400 million in financing for this strategic deal.

The acquisition, which is subject to regulatory approvals, is expected to significantly strengthen PTCL’s position in the Pakistani telecom market. The partnership with the IFC-led consortium demonstrates the confidence in Pakistan’s telecom sector and its potential for growth.

The financing deal was celebrated at a special event in Karachi, attended by key stakeholders from PTCL, the IFC-led consortium, and the government. The event marked a significant milestone in the realization of PTCL’s acquisition plans.

The acquisition of Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers will enable PTCL to expand its customer base, enhance its network coverage, and offer a wider range of services to customers across Pakistan. This strategic move aligns with PTCL’s vision of becoming a leading digital services provider in the country.

The IFC’s participation in the financing deal underscores its commitment to supporting inclusive, high-quality digital connectivity and infrastructure in Pakistan. This investment is expected to contribute to the country’s economic prosperity and social development.

The acquisition of Telenor Pakistan and Orion Towers is a major development for Pakistan’s telecom sector, and it is anticipated that the deal will bring significant benefits to the country.
