PTCL has reported strong financial results for the first quarter of 2025, which ended on March 31. The announcement, made during a Board of Directors meeting held in Islamabad, highlights the company’s robust performance and solidified position as the leading integrated telecom service provider in Pakistan.
For Q1 2025, PTCL Group achieved a remarkable 22 percent year-on-year (YoY) growth in revenue, reaching Rs 61.8 billion. This surge was driven by substantial growth in key consumer segments, particularly fixed broadband and mobile data, coupled with a strong contribution from enterprise and carrier wholesale services. The company’s performance signals a clear upward trajectory, reflecting its ability to adapt to the fast-evolving telecommunications landscape and meet growing consumer demands.
A closer look at PTCL’s individual segments reveals impressive results. The company itself posted a 14 percent YoY increase in revenue, reaching Rs 29.6 billion. This growth was largely attributed to a 70 percent revenue increase in Flash Fiber, PTCL’s flagship fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service, alongside a 23 percent growth in its Business Solutions segment compared to the same period last year. PTCL’s Enterprise Business also saw a 23 percent increase in revenue, while the Carrier and Wholesale business maintained its upward momentum, with a 24 percent growth. The international segment, which has been key to PTCL’s expansion strategy, saw an 8 percent increase in revenue.
Notably, PTCL reported a significant operating profit of Rs 4.1 billion, representing a 40 percent increase compared to Q1 2024. The company’s net profit for the quarter reached Rs 1.2 billion, showcasing the success of its growth initiatives and the effectiveness of its operational strategies. PTML (Ufone 4G), a subsidiary of PTCL, also performed strongly, with a 21 percent YoY growth in revenue and an 11 percent increase in operating profit compared to the last quarter of 2024. Ufone’s growth was attributed to enhanced customer experiences and the introduction of data-centric products and strategic partnerships.
U Microfinance Bank (UBank), another key PTCL Group entity, posted an impressive 77 percent increase in revenue compared to the same period last year. This growth reflects the success of UBank’s innovative financial products and services, aimed at increasing financial inclusion for underserved communities across Pakistan. The operational highlights for PTCL Group emphasize its leading role in Pakistan’s digital transformation. As the country’s largest connectivity provider, PTCL Group continues to drive the vision of a ‘Digital Pakistan,’ offering critical infrastructure and connectivity solutions. A key highlight of the quarter was PTCL’s expansion of its Flash Fiber service, which has now surpassed 700,000 customers across Pakistan. The service’s 70 percent YoY revenue growth underscores PTCL’s commitment to delivering the fastest and most reliable internet services in the country.
PTCL also made strides in digital innovation with the introduction of a WhatsApp-based bill payment solution, marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s telecom sector. This new service allows customers to conveniently pay their PTCL bills via WhatsApp, enhancing accessibility, security, and convenience for users, and furthering the government’s Digital Pakistan agenda. In the business services domain, PTCL maintained its market dominance in IP bandwidth, cloud services, data centers, and other ICT solutions. These services are critical to Pakistan’s digital economy, providing enterprises with the tools needed to thrive in a rapidly changing market. Ufone 4G’s continued expansion and product innovation also contributed to its success during the quarter, with the introduction of the ‘Super 5’ package, a unique connectivity solution for small groups or families, which has further enriched customer experiences.
PTCL Group’s commitment to social impact remains strong, with the company continuing to contribute to community development through its ‘Dil Se’ platform. The flagship initiative includes several programs aimed at empowering women, such as the ‘Ba-Ikhtiar’ program, which offers mentorship and financial support to women entrepreneurs. One of the standout achievements during Q1 2025 was the creation of Peshawar Zalmi’s kit by women entrepreneurs enrolled in the Ba-Ikhtiar program. The kit serves as a symbol of empowerment, strength, and resilience, marking a significant milestone in women’s economic participation in Pakistan. PTCL also partnered with Pink Collar to host Pakistan’s first Women Career Summit in Lahore, providing a platform for women to connect with leading corporations and explore career opportunities. This initiative, combined with the ongoing efforts of the Ba-Ikhtiar program, showcases PTCL’s dedication to fostering gender equality and empowering women in the workplace.
Inclusivity and accessibility are at the core of PTCL Group’s social responsibility efforts. The company partnered with ConnectHear, a platform that provides services for the deaf community, as part of a GSMA project. Through this partnership, PTCL is providing free data for the ConnectHear app, allowing deaf individuals to access interpreters and receive important early warning messages during emergencies, further reinforcing PTCL’s commitment to inclusivity. As PTCL Group continues to build on its strong performance in Q1 2025, the company is poised for further growth and innovation. With a focus on digital transformation, customer satisfaction, and social impact, PTCL remains a leader in Pakistan’s telecom and ICT sectors, playing a crucial role in shaping the country’s digital future.
