Pakistan Software Export Board has successfully concluded the sixth edition of its GAIN Online Awareness and Engagement Session, titled “Expanding Business Footprints in Gulf Markets: Opportunities for Pakistani IT Companies,” reinforcing its ongoing efforts to support the global growth ambitions of the country’s IT and ITeS sector. The session was designed to equip local technology companies with practical knowledge and market-oriented strategies required to enter and scale operations in Gulf markets, which continue to show strong demand for advanced digital solutions. As part of the GAIN initiative, the engagement aimed to bridge knowledge gaps, highlight real-world opportunities, and strengthen the readiness of Pakistani firms to compete in high-value international environments.

The session was led by Dr. Naveed Sherwani, a globally recognized technology leader and the Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Arabia’s National Semiconductor Hub. Drawing on more than 35 years of international industry experience, Dr. Sherwani shared in-depth insights into the evolving technology landscape of the Gulf region and the expectations of enterprise and government buyers. His discussion focused on the practical aspects of market entry, emphasizing the importance of building credibility, understanding regional business culture, and aligning offerings with long-term digital transformation goals. Participants were provided with a grounded perspective on how Pakistani companies can position themselves as reliable technology partners rather than commodity service providers.

A key focus of the session was on helping participants identify and capitalize on high-growth and under-served industry verticals within Gulf economies. Dr. Sherwani highlighted opportunities in areas such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and cloud computing, noting that demand for these solutions is being driven by large-scale digital initiatives, regulatory modernization, and increasing investment in secure and scalable infrastructure. Attendees received strategic guidance on commercializing advanced technology solutions, developing enterprise-grade products, and ensuring alignment with international compliance and security standards. The discussion also underscored the importance of trust, quality assurance, and long-term value creation when engaging with clients in competitive regional markets.

Beyond technology offerings, the session explored broader pathways for sustainable IT export growth. These included leveraging high-value services, accessing global mentorship networks, forming international partnerships, and utilizing diaspora-driven market entry models to establish local presence and credibility. Participants were encouraged to think beyond short-term contracts and focus on building enduring business relationships that can support expansion across multiple Gulf countries. The role of global exposure, ecosystem integration, and strategic collaboration was emphasized as critical for scaling operations and moving up the value chain.

Through the GAIN program, PSEB continues to play an active role in enabling Pakistani IT and ITeS companies to expand internationally and strengthen their competitiveness in high-potential markets. By facilitating access to experienced global leaders, market intelligence, and practical growth frameworks, PSEB aims to support the sector’s transition toward higher-value exports and sustainable global engagement. The successful conclusion of the sixth GAIN session reflects the growing interest among Pakistani technology firms in the Gulf region and highlights the importance of structured support in navigating complex international markets.
