The Punjab Information Technology Board has expanded the portfolio of services available at its 15 e-Khidmat Markaz centres to include sales tax payments for businesses and service providers, adding another layer of utility to the province’s flagship one-window citizen service network. The expansion was announced as part of the Punjab Information Technology Board’s ongoing effort to consolidate a growing range of public services under a single accessible infrastructure, reducing the need for citizens and businesses to visit multiple government offices to fulfil different administrative and financial obligations.
Business owners and service providers across Punjab can now pay their sales taxes through a secure and streamlined process available at all 15 designated e-Khidmat centres, with trained staff available to guide citizens through every stage of the process, and the service accessible from Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM at any of the 15 designated e-Khidmat Markaz locations across the province. The introduction of sales tax payment at e-Khidmat centres is particularly significant for smaller businesses and sole proprietors who have historically found the tax payment process cumbersome, requiring familiarity with online filing portals or visits to specific revenue department offices. By bringing this service into the e-Khidmat network, the Punjab Information Technology Board makes tax compliance more physically accessible, especially for business owners in areas that are closer to an e-Khidmat Markaz than to a dedicated tax facilitation centre.
Earlier this month, the Punjab Information Technology Board also announced a new examination fee payment service at e-Khidmat for candidates appearing in Punjab Public Service Commission exams, confirming this marks the first time Punjab Public Service Commission examination fee payments have been formally included in the official portfolio of citizen services offered through e-Khidmat Markaz. The addition of examination fee payments alongside sales tax services reflects a broader strategy of using the e-Khidmat network as a living infrastructure that grows in scope as new services are identified and onboarded, rather than a static set of offerings. Citizens requiring further details about either service can visit the official Punjab Information Technology Board website at ekhidmat.punjab.gov.pk, or reach the dedicated helpline at 1317 for direct assistance.
