PEMRA has signed a MoU with National Information Technology Board (NITB) for the development of a mobile application. The signing ceremony, held at PEMRA’s headquarters, marks a significant step toward leveraging technology to streamline services and improve the regulatory experience for the public.

The MoU was signed by Muhammad Tahir, PEMRA’s Director General of Operations, Broadcast Media & Public Relations, and Dr. Babar Majid Bhatti, CEO of NITB. Also present at the ceremony were PEMRA Chairman Muhammad Saleem and Executive Member Sikandar Rashid Chaudhry, who both expressed their support for the initiative and underscored the importance of modernizing the authority’s services.

Speaking at the event, PEMRA Chairman Muhammad Saleem extended his gratitude to Dr. Babar Majid Bhatti for NITB’s collaboration and support in this endeavor. He emphasized that the launch of the PEMRA mobile app will make regulatory services more accessible to the public, empowering them to engage with PEMRA’s operations more efficiently. He highlighted that the app would be particularly beneficial in facilitating the registration of complaints and addressing public grievances in a timely manner.

The mobile application will enable users to easily access PEMRA’s wide range of services, including the filing of complaints, obtaining information on broadcast media regulations, and staying updated with the latest news and notifications related to electronic media in Pakistan. The app is expected to enhance the Authority’s capacity to handle consumer complaints, providing a user-friendly platform for reporting issues and seeking resolutions.

In addition to PEMRA’s leadership, several other key officials were present at the signing ceremony, including Wakeel Khan, PEMRA’s Director General of Licensing Broadcast Media; Zeba Tabassum, Director General for Information Technology; Tamseel Haider, Director & Personal Staff Officer to the Chairman; Saeed Ahmed Sumro, Regional Director (Islamabad); Tahir Farooq Tarar, Head Legal; and Shahbaz Akhtar, Director of Information Technology.

This collaboration between PEMRA and NITB reflects the government’s commitment to improving the efficiency and transparency of regulatory frameworks. By incorporating digital solutions, PEMRA aims to strengthen its regulatory operations and better serve the public in the digital age. The mobile application is expected to be a crucial tool in facilitating easier access to PEMRA’s services and enhancing communication between the authority and the citizens it serves.

The development of the PEMRA mobile app is part of a broader initiative to modernize the country’s regulatory systems and adapt to the digital transformation taking place across various sectors. With the increasing reliance on mobile technologies and digital platforms, this move is seen as a step in the right direction, aiming to bring regulatory services closer to the public and enhance the overall user experience.

As the app’s development progresses, the collaboration between PEMRA and NITB is expected to yield a seamless, efficient, and user-friendly tool that will ultimately contribute to the overall goal of greater transparency and accountability in the broadcast media sector.
