Pakistan’s IT exports have experienced a remarkable surge of 28%, reaching $1.86 billion, with further growth projected in the coming months, according to Minister of State for Information Technology Shaza Fatima Khawaja. Speaking at LEAP 2025 during the Pakistan-Saudi Business Forum, she underscored the government’s unwavering commitment to expanding Pakistan’s digital economy and fostering international partnerships to accelerate technological advancements. The minister described the Digital Nation Act 2025 as a landmark initiative that aims to propel Pakistan into a new era of digital transformation, reinforcing its position as a key player in the global tech landscape.

The Digital Nation Act 2025 is a comprehensive framework designed to enhance the country’s innovation ecosystem, attract foreign investment, and equip the workforce with future-ready skills. Khawaja emphasized that the act represents a national pledge to bolster digital infrastructure, improve governance, and create a conducive environment for startups and enterprises to thrive. She reiterated that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are strengthening their collaboration in emerging technologies, aligning with the broader Pakistan-Saudi Vision 2030 to drive economic progress through digital advancements.

In a significant announcement, Khawaja revealed that Pakistan will soon host a Digital Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) Forum in Islamabad. The event is expected to bring together global investors, technology leaders, and policymakers to explore lucrative opportunities in Pakistan’s burgeoning IT sector. The forum will serve as a platform to showcase the country’s potential in software development, artificial intelligence, fintech, and other high-growth digital domains. With the participation of international stakeholders, the initiative aims to channel substantial investment into Pakistan’s tech industry, unlocking new avenues for economic expansion.

The minister also highlighted the government’s proactive approach under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, stating that a strategic roadmap has been put in place to harness the full potential of the digital economy. This includes policy reforms, infrastructure development, and incentives to encourage both local and foreign enterprises to invest in the IT sector. The government’s vision is to position Pakistan as a regional technology hub, leveraging its young and talented workforce, growing internet penetration, and a thriving startup ecosystem.

Pakistan’s recent IT export growth is a testament to the resilience and adaptability of the country’s tech industry, which has successfully navigated global challenges to emerge stronger. The rise in exports also reflects the increasing demand for Pakistani software solutions, IT services, and digital expertise in international markets. With strategic collaborations and an enabling policy environment, Pakistan is set to play a pivotal role in the global digital economy.

The strengthened ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia in the technology sector signal a new chapter of cooperation, one that promises mutual benefits and long-term economic gains. Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 places a strong emphasis on technological innovation, and Pakistan’s IT sector is well-positioned to contribute to this ambitious transformation. By aligning their goals and resources, the two countries aim to drive technological breakthroughs and create new opportunities for businesses and professionals in the digital space.

As Pakistan continues on its trajectory of digital progress, the upcoming Digital FDI Forum in Islamabad will be a crucial milestone in attracting global investment and reinforcing the country’s reputation as an emerging tech powerhouse. The combined efforts of the government, industry leaders, and international partners are expected to pave the way for sustained growth, innovation, and economic prosperity in the years ahead.
