Jazz, Pakistan’s connectivity provider operating under the JazzWorld ecosystem, has secured 190 MHz of additional spectrum in Pakistan’s latest telecom spectrum auction for a total amount of 239.375 million dollars. The acquisition significantly expands the company’s spectrum portfolio and strengthens its position as Pakistan prepares for broader deployment of advanced mobile technologies including 5G. With the latest purchase, Jazz’s overall spectrum holdings have increased from 94.4 MHz to a total of 284.4 MHz across multiple frequency bands.

The newly acquired spectrum spans several key frequency ranges that are considered important for both high capacity urban connectivity and broader network coverage. The acquisition includes 50 MHz in the 3500 MHz band, 70 MHz in the 2600 MHz band, and 50 MHz in the 2300 MHz band. In addition, the company secured 20 MHz in the highly valued 700 MHz band, a low frequency band widely regarded for its ability to deliver wide area coverage and stronger indoor signal penetration. This spectrum is expected to support network expansion in rural and underserved areas where coverage gaps remain a challenge. By strengthening its multi band portfolio, Jazz aims to improve network capacity and efficiency while supporting Pakistan’s gradual transition toward next generation mobile services.

The expanded spectrum resources will enable Jazz to enhance overall network performance while continuing the expansion of nationwide 4G services. At the same time, the additional capacity will allow the company to gradually introduce 5G capabilities in selected urban areas and enterprise environments where demand for high speed connectivity and advanced digital services is growing. All deployments will be carried out in accordance with the regulatory framework and rollout obligations established by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. Industry analysts note that access to multiple spectrum bands provides operators with the flexibility required to manage network traffic, increase speeds and support evolving digital services across consumer and enterprise segments. The expansion also highlights the broader connectivity challenges that remain within Pakistan’s digital landscape. On average, a Pakistani mobile user consumed approximately 8 GB of data during the last fiscal year, significantly lower than the regional average of about 20 GB. A large portion of the population still lacks access to high speed mobile connectivity, with nearly 40 percent of subscribers yet to access 4G services and around one quarter of the population remaining without mobile broadband altogether. These gaps underline the need for continued investment in network infrastructure and spectrum resources to support growing digital demand and expand access to reliable connectivity across the country.

Commenting on the development, Aamir Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer of JazzWorld, acknowledged the role of government institutions in facilitating the auction process. He said the company appreciates the Government of Pakistan, Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication and PTA for conducting a spectrum auction that strengthens the foundation of Pakistan’s digital ecosystem. According to Ibrahim, the new spectrum strengthens JazzWorld’s ambition to evolve into a comprehensive ServiceCo platform that can deliver digital services at scale while expanding high quality 4G connectivity and gradually introducing 5G capabilities where there is meaningful demand. The latest acquisition adds to Jazz’s long term investment in Pakistan’s telecommunications sector. Over the past three decades, the company has invested more than 11 billion dollars in developing and modernizing connectivity infrastructure across the country. These investments have supported the expansion of mobile networks, digital platforms and services aimed at improving access to communication, financial services and digital tools for individuals and businesses. JazzWorld currently serves more than 100 million customers through its digital ecosystem, reflecting the company’s continued focus on expanding connectivity and supporting Pakistan’s evolving digital economy through technology driven services.
