Federal Minister for IT and Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, is in Doha for a two-day visit to represent Pakistan at the GSM Association Mobile World Congress 2025. The global event brings together over 200 aviation and technology leaders from nearly 100 countries, offering a platform to highlight Pakistan’s growing role in digital innovation and regional collaboration. During her visit, the minister is set to deliver multiple keynote addresses, participate in ministerial programs, and hold high-level meetings with Qatari officials to discuss digital governance, technology investment, and regional cooperation.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja will deliver addresses focusing on strategic topics such as “Digital Governance: Visionary Policies for a Digital Future” and “Unlocking Digital Growth Across the South Asia–Middle East Corridor: Spotlight on Pakistan.” She is also scheduled to present Pakistan’s perspective at the “Digital Nations APAC Dialogue: Policy Innovation & Investment for Regional Impact.” The minister emphasised that Pakistan’s digital policies are designed to create opportunities, attract investment, and foster innovation across the region, reinforcing the country’s commitment to advancing its technology sector.

In addition to keynote presentations, the minister’s schedule includes meetings with prominent Qatari leaders. Engagements include discussions with Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Malki, President of Qatar’s National Cyber Security Agency, to explore cybersecurity initiatives and collaborative opportunities. She will also meet with Mohammed Al-Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information, to discuss joint efforts on digital infrastructure projects. Talks with Abdulrahman Al-Sowaidi, CEO of Qatar Development Bank, will focus on financing and partnership opportunities for Pakistan-Qatar digital initiatives, strengthening pathways for cross-border investment and innovation.

Observers note that Pakistan’s participation at MWC 2025 highlights the country’s growing influence in technology and digital governance. The visit is expected to open avenues for strategic partnerships, investment opportunities, and knowledge exchange in areas such as AI, digital infrastructure, and regional connectivity. Officials indicate that such engagements allow Pakistan to showcase its policy framework, technological capabilities, and vision for a digital future. By positioning the country as a hub for digital innovation and regional leadership, the minister’s presence at the event underscores Pakistan’s efforts to expand its footprint on the global technology map and support sustainable growth in the IT and telecom sectors.

Shaza Fatima Khawaja’s participation reflects Pakistan’s proactive approach to regional collaboration, technology diplomacy, and the promotion of innovation-driven policies. The visit reinforces the country’s role as a growing digital leader in South Asia and the Middle East, setting the stage for enhanced investment, development, and technology adoption across multiple sectors. Through this engagement, Pakistan is demonstrating its readiness to collaborate internationally while building a strong domestic foundation for digital transformation.
