The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has introduced a new online payment system that allows citizens to pay their passport fees in just a few minutes without having to visit a bank branch. This initiative aims to modernize the passport application process by replacing manual fee submissions at National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) counters with a faster, more accessible digital solution. Citizens can now complete the payment process using either the Passport Fee Asaan mobile application or the Paymaster.com.pk portal, making the process easier, faster, and available round the clock.
According to the authority, the new system has been designed to enhance user convenience and eliminate delays caused by in-person banking procedures. Through the Passport Fee Asaan app, available for both Android and iPhone users, applicants can generate a unique Payment Slip ID (PSID) instantly. Alternatively, they can use the Paymaster website to generate their PSID online. Once the PSID is created, payments can be made using multiple digital channels, including internet banking, ATMs, Easypaisa, or JazzCash. To make a successful transaction, users need to select the 1Bill option and enter the prefix 999999 before their PSID number. This integrated process ensures that payment confirmation is recorded digitally, reducing manual errors and providing applicants with immediate verification of their payment status.
After completing the online payment, applicants can proceed directly to their nearest passport office to finalize their application without standing in long queues at NBP branches. The move signifies another step in Pakistan’s broader digital transformation agenda, promoting ease of access and operational efficiency within public services. By digitizing this process, the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports aims to reduce administrative bottlenecks, improve transparency, and enable citizens to manage their passport applications at their convenience. The authority has also emphasized that the new system supports multiple payment options to accommodate users from various regions and banking networks.
This digital initiative aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to expand citizen-facing e-services under the Digital Pakistan framework. Similar integrations have already been introduced for other government services such as vehicle registration, utility bill payments, and tax filing. The online passport fee payment system is expected to streamline service delivery for millions of applicants annually, making the process more efficient and accessible across urban and rural areas. Through technology-driven reforms like these, Pakistan continues to move toward a more connected and citizen-centric digital governance ecosystem.
