A new milestone in digital connectivity and urban innovation has been achieved as Town Municipal Corporation (TMC) North Nazimabad, in collaboration with Multinet Pakistan (Private) Limited, officially launched Pakistan’s first Free Wi-Fi Open Market and Incubation Hub at Hyderi Market, North Nazimabad. This initiative marks a major step toward digitally enabling one of Karachi’s most historic and commercially active marketplaces. The project will offer free internet connectivity to thousands of users, paving the way for cashless transactions, smart civic management, and enhanced digital inclusion across the local business ecosystem.

The landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Atif Ali Khan, Chairman of TMC North Nazimabad, and Adnan H. Zaidi, CEO of Multinet Pakistan, during a formal ceremony attended by representatives from the technology and business sectors. The collaboration aims to provide 10 Mbps per-user free Wi-Fi access for more than 5,000 concurrent users in Hyderi Market. The initiative is designed to help traders and small business owners transition to digital platforms by supporting e-commerce readiness and enabling smart governance tools that can transform how markets operate. It reflects a shared commitment between public and private stakeholders to make digital infrastructure more accessible to citizens and businesses alike.

Key figures present at the ceremony included Engr. Sabir Ahmed, CEO of Cothem Karachi; Syed Umairuddin Hussain, CEO of Building Technologies & Networks and Vice President of the Pakistan Business Forum Karachi; Farhad Ahmed, GM at Multinet; Atif, GM at Multinet; Nusrat Sarfaraz, GM Supply Chain Management; and Naveed Mansoor, CEO of Global Freight Pakistan. Their participation underscored the multi-sectoral collaboration involved in launching this initiative, bringing together technology providers, civic leadership, and business representatives to create a digitally connected and innovation-driven commercial zone.

The Free Wi-Fi Open Market and Incubation Hub will serve both established traders and emerging entrepreneurs, supporting businesses across different scales—from large shop owners to small roadside vendors with limited capital investment. This inclusivity aims to strengthen digital participation across all economic tiers, allowing local entrepreneurs to benefit from stable connectivity, incubation opportunities, and exposure to digital commerce tools. The project is being positioned as a national model for Smart Economic Zones, aligning with Pakistan’s broader Digital Pakistan vision. It emphasizes innovation-led economic growth, transparency, and technology-driven urban development that benefits communities at the grassroots level.

By combining public governance with private sector expertise, the collaboration between TMC North Nazimabad and Multinet Pakistan sets a new benchmark for municipal-led digital transformation. The initiative represents a practical step toward building smarter, more connected cities where technology enhances economic opportunity, improves service delivery, and empowers citizens through accessible and inclusive connectivity solutions.
