Federal Minister for IT & Telecom, Shaza Fatima Khwaja, met with Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Khazar Farhadov, to explore potential collaborations in IT, telecom, and digital transformation. The meeting, held in Islamabad, focused on strengthening bilateral relations and fostering innovation-driven partnerships between the two countries. Both sides expressed their commitment to leveraging technological advancements for economic growth and improved governance.

During the discussion, Minister Shaza Fatima Khwaja highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to enhance digital infrastructure, expand broadband penetration, and create a conducive environment for startups and IT enterprises. She emphasized that Pakistan is rapidly becoming a key player in the global tech landscape, and partnerships with countries like Azerbaijan could further accelerate progress. The minister underscored the importance of knowledge exchange, joint initiatives, and investment opportunities in the digital sector.

Ambassador Khazar Farhadov reiterated Azerbaijan’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Pakistan in the fields of smart governance, cybersecurity, and IT-enabled services. He acknowledged Pakistan’s growing digital economy and expressed confidence that collaboration in emerging technologies, such as AI and blockchain, could bring mutual benefits. Azerbaijan, with its focus on smart city initiatives and digital governance, sees Pakistan as a valuable partner in advancing innovation.

The meeting also covered strategies to enhance trade and investment in the IT and telecom sectors. Both parties discussed organizing joint forums, business delegations, and training programs to facilitate greater interaction between tech entrepreneurs, industry leaders, and policymakers. Additionally, they explored ways to support IT startups and professionals in accessing international markets through bilateral agreements and talent exchange programs.

Pakistan and Azerbaijan have previously enjoyed strong diplomatic and economic ties, and this latest engagement marks another step toward deepening cooperation in the digital sphere. As both countries look to modernize their economies through technology, this partnership could play a crucial role in driving digital transformation and fostering regional connectivity. The meeting concluded with a commitment to developing a roadmap for collaboration and ensuring follow-up engagements to translate discussions into actionable projects. Minister Shaza Fatima Khwaja reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to working closely with Azerbaijan to build a smarter, more connected future.
