Pakistan’s electric vehicle segment has welcomed a new entrant as Nora EV has officially launched in the local market, introducing a compact urban electric vehicle in three variants with a starting price of Rs1,889,000. The company is positioning the Nora EV as Pakistan’s first electric vehicle that allows users to swap batteries and recharge in a matter of seconds, a feature that directly addresses one of the most commonly cited barriers to electric vehicle adoption, namely the time and infrastructure required for conventional charging.

The vehicle is available in three variants catering to different budget and range requirements. The base Eco variant is priced at Rs1,889,000, the mid-range Eco+ comes in at Rs2,099,000, and the top-tier EcoX is available for Rs2,299,000. The Nora EV is a compact four-seater designed primarily for urban commuting, measuring 2,900mm in length, 1,450mm in width, and 1,600mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1,900mm and a ground clearance of 160mm. It is powered by a 3,000-watt electric motor paired with a 72-volt, 120-ampere-hour battery pack, which supports a conventional charging time of six to eight hours using an external charger. The vehicle reaches a maximum speed of approximately 65 kilometres per hour and is capable of climbing slopes of up to 15 percent.

In terms of range, the Eco and Eco+ variants offer a driving distance of up to 120 kilometres on a full charge, while the EcoX extends that to 160 kilometres. Both variants also support a range extender that can push total range to approximately 300 kilometres, making the vehicle practical for use cases beyond strictly short urban trips. The EV rides on 12-inch aluminium alloy wheels fitted with 145-70-12 tyres, with a suspension system featuring front and rear bridge bracket suspension with telescopic damping shock absorption, and four-wheel disc brakes handling stopping duties. The interior includes a seven-inch high-definition reversing camera, Bluetooth multimedia connectivity, touch alarm, double door central control, an electronic lock for theft deterrence, front power windows, and both air-conditioning and heating. The Eco and Eco+ variants are offered in three colours, while the EcoX is available in 15 colours plus a special edition finish.

The launch arrives at a time when interest in electric mobility is gradually gaining momentum in Pakistan, driven by sustained high fuel prices and increasing awareness of environmentally conscious transportation options. The introduction of the Nora EV adds further depth to an expanding lineup of electric vehicles in a market traditionally and overwhelmingly dominated by petrol-powered cars, signalling that affordable entry-level electric mobility is beginning to find its footing in the country.
