To strengthen cybersecurity within the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Director General of the National Cyber Emergency Response Team (National CERT), Dr. Haider Abbas, TI, conducted a training session for senior FBR officials at their Regional Head Office in Multan. The session focused on enhancing the organization’s ability to safeguard sensitive taxpayer data and counter emerging cyber threats.
Key topics covered during the interactive session included data protection strategies, combating cyberattacks like ransomware and phishing, and implementing best practices aligned with national cybersecurity standards.
Dr. Abbas emphasized the critical importance of robust data protection measures, stating,
“In today’s interconnected world, safeguarding sensitive data is not merely an operational requirement but a national imperative. As custodians of critical financial data, FBR must prioritize cutting-edge cybersecurity measures and cultivate a culture of cyber resilience.”
DG National CERT also highlighted the significance of proactive risk management and capacity building within the FBR. He provided tailored recommendations to strengthen the organization’s cybersecurity infrastructure and enhance its ability to effectively respond to cyber incidents.
FBR officials expressed their appreciation for the valuable insights provided by Dr. Abbas and acknowledged the ongoing support of the National CERT in addressing cybersecurity challenges.
