Meta recently held a Community Summit in Islamabad, Pakistan. The event aimed to connect with civil society partners and discuss important topics like social media best practices, online safety, and freedom of expression.
This summit is part of Meta’s larger effort to engage with key stakeholders in Pakistan and reaffirm their commitment to fostering a safe and open online environment.
“We want to create a space where people can build relationships and share their voices online without fear,” said Priyanka Bhalla, Meta’s Head of Safety Policy for the Asia Pacific region. “We value our collaboration with Pakistani civil society organizations, and their input helps us develop features and tools that promote responsible and safe online interactions.”
Heather M. Girton, Program Specialist for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), also participated in the summit. “It was a privilege to meet with Pakistani civil society groups dedicated to child safety,” she said. “Their commitment to protecting the most vulnerable is truly inspiring.”
The summit highlights Meta’s focus on creating a positive online experience in Pakistan, achieved through collaboration with local organizations.
