World Bank expressed satisfaction with the initial progress of Pakistan’s $78 million Digital Economy Enhancement Project (DEEP). The project aims to expand access to digital government services for citizens and businesses.
In its first progress report, the World Bank said both the overall implementation and the project’s achievement of its goals are on track.
DEEP was officially launched in May 2024, and the World Bank team met with project partners to discuss next steps. These steps focus on getting the project up and running efficiently and ensuring compliance with funding agreements.
“It’s crucial for project partners to prioritize these initial tasks,” the World Bank emphasized.
The project will also support the development of a National Fiberization Plan, which will improve internet access across Pakistan. The World Bank discussed collaborating with public and private stakeholders to develop this plan.
