Lahore University of Management Sciences and Pakistan Single Window have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to collaborate on capacity building, executive education, and research initiatives aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s trade facilitation ecosystem. The signing ceremony was held at the Pakistan Single Window head office in Islamabad, with the agreement signed by Chief Executive Officer of Pakistan Single Window Aftab Haider and Provost of Lahore University of Management Sciences Doctor Tariq Jadoon, in the presence of senior officials from both institutions.
Under the partnership, the two institutions will collaborate to support capacity building initiatives under the Federal Board of Revenue’s Postgraduate Diploma Programme for Probationary Assistant Collectors of Customs. The collaboration will focus on strengthening knowledge and professional competencies in areas related to cross border trade, digital trade facilitation, logistics, and data governance, all of which fall within Pakistan Single Window’s broader mandate as the country’s centralised digital platform for trade related documentation and clearances.
Lahore University of Management Sciences and Pakistan Single Window will jointly design and deliver executive education programmes, technical trainings, seminars, and other professional development initiatives on mutually agreed terms going forward. The partnership also creates a platform for both organisations to participate in each other’s conferences, workshops, policy dialogues, exhibitions, and related events, aimed at promoting broader institutional collaboration and knowledge sharing between academia and Pakistan’s trade facilitation infrastructure.
The agreement additionally establishes a framework for developing joint research initiatives, policy papers, analytical studies, and other knowledge products focused on digital trade, trade facilitation, cross border trade systems, logistics, and data governance. These collaborative efforts are expected to contribute to academic research, support evidence based policymaking, and generate practical insights for stakeholders engaged in Pakistan’s trade ecosystem, including participants of the Postgraduate Diploma Programme.
Speaking at the signing, Provost Tariq Jadoon said the university was pleased to partner with Pakistan Single Window in advancing executive education and applied research addressing national priorities, describing the collaboration as one that combines academic expertise with practical knowledge to create learning opportunities and strengthen Pakistan’s trade and customs landscape. Chief Executive Officer Aftab Haider said developing a modern and efficient trade ecosystem requires continuous investment in human capital and knowledge, adding that the collaboration with Lahore University of Management Sciences reflects Pakistan Single Window’s commitment to building institutional capacity and supporting the development of future leaders in customs and trade facilitation. The agreement adds to a series of similar partnerships Pakistan Single Window has pursued in recent months, including a separate memorandum of understanding signed with the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan aimed at integrating digital trade platforms and improving export facilitation services for traders across the country.
