Islamabad International Airport Goes Fully Cashless With Digital Payment System

Islamabad International Airport has completed its transition to a fully cashless system, introducing digital payments across all service counters to modernize passenger facilitation and streamline airport operations. The development, announced by Pakistan Airports Authority, enables travelers to pay all applicable fees and charges electronically through a dedicated mobile application, eliminating the need for physical cash transactions within the airport premises.

According to the Pakistan Airports Authority, the shift to digital payments is designed to offer passengers a more secure, efficient, and organized experience. By allowing payments through a mobile app, the airport aims to significantly reduce queue times at service counters and simplify fee submission processes. Travelers can now settle charges digitally for services that previously required manual cash handling, which often contributed to delays during peak travel hours. The authority noted that the move aligns with broader government digitization efforts focused on improving service delivery through technology adoption. Officials emphasized that the integration of advanced payment solutions will create a smoother flow of operations while enhancing overall service efficiency for both domestic and international passengers.

Beyond improving passenger convenience, the cashless transition is also expected to strengthen operational transparency. Pakistan Airports Authority highlighted that electronic payments provide clearer transaction tracking, enabling better financial management and oversight. Officials further explained that the introduction of the digital payment system supports the development of airport facilities in line with international standards. By incorporating modern technology into day to day operations, Islamabad International Airport is enhancing its service framework to match evolving global aviation practices. The authority reiterated that passenger convenience remains a primary focus, and the adoption of cashless payments represents a practical step toward delivering secure and seamless travel experiences.
