Fresh leaks showing camera protective covers for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max have provided another look at what appears to be Apple’s finalised color lineup and rear camera design for this year’s Pro flagship lineup, with the images largely confirming what earlier leaks had already suggested: a new Dark Cherry signature color, a familiar triple-lens camera arrangement, and a design philosophy that leans heavily on internal upgrades rather than dramatic external changes.

The most recent leak reiterates previous Dark Cherry hero color leaks and the triple-lens camera design, with the iPhone 18 Pro lineup expected to include Dark Cherry, Light Blue, Dark Gray, and Silver alongside the familiar triple-lens arrangement. Although the leaked protective camera covers show the familiar triple-lens arrangement, reports suggest a slightly thicker camera plateau to accommodate a new 48MP variable aperture primary camera. The variable aperture system, which allows the lens to physically adjust its opening to control the amount of light entering the sensor rather than relying solely on software simulation, would represent one of the more meaningful optical advancements Apple has brought to the iPhone camera in several years, putting the iPhone 18 Pro in line with a capability that high-end Android flagships have been developing.

While the face of the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max may see a noticeably smaller Dynamic Island cutout, the rear design leaks suggest that Apple’s new leadership headed by John Ternus will be focusing on internal upgrades, such as the new 2nm A20 Pro chip and Apple Intelligence with the new Siri. In related news, iOS 27 should bring a revamped, pro-grade iPhone camera app to debut on the new iPhones. The 2nm A20 Pro chip, built on TSMC’s most advanced process node, is expected to deliver meaningful improvements in both raw performance and energy efficiency, with the latter being particularly relevant for a device running increasingly complex on-device artificial intelligence features that place sustained demands on the processor throughout the day.

None of the leaked colors looks nearly as striking as the Cosmic Orange of the iPhone 17 Pro lineup, which suggests Apple wants to play it safe — perhaps keeping the fun colors for the vanilla iPhone 18 expected in the spring of 2027. Considering the foldable iPhone Ultra is expected to break cover during the same Apple event, it is going to be nearly impossible for the iPhone 18 Pro to become the star of Apple’s September show. The iPhone Ultra, Apple’s first foldable device, is widely expected to command the lion’s share of attention at the September 2026 event, leaving the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max to make their case primarily on the strength of their internal specifications rather than design drama, a position that the muted color palette now being leaked appears to fully reflect.
