HITEC University in Taxila has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with AI Geo Navigators Private Limited, marking another step toward strengthening academia industry collaboration at the university. The agreement was signed by Chief Executive Officer of AI Geo Navigators Asim Javed and Registrar of HITEC University Farrukh Shahzad, in the presence of Vice Chancellor Professor Sohail Asghar and senior officials from both organisations, with the ceremony organised under the auspices of the university’s Department of Civil Engineering.
The partnership is aimed at fostering collaboration in artificial intelligence driven geospatial technologies, covering areas including Geographic Information Systems, remote sensing, climate change, and disaster risk reduction. Under the agreement, the two organisations plan to work together on sustainability focused initiatives, joint research projects, professional training programmes, internships, and broader capacity building efforts intended to benefit both students and faculty at the university.
AI Geo Navigators, a geospatial intelligence company based in Islamabad, has been steadily expanding its academic partnerships in recent months, having previously signed similar agreements with institutions including the Sustainable Development Policy Institute and the University of Sargodha to integrate artificial intelligence and geospatial analysis into policy research and academic programmes. The company has described its work as spanning water resources, biodiversity, disaster risk reduction, and climate analytics, with operations extending to more than a dozen countries alongside its activities in Pakistan.
University officials described the partnership as reflecting HITEC University’s broader commitment to strengthening academia industry linkages and advancing research and innovation across its academic departments. The collaboration is expected to provide students and faculty with practical opportunities to engage with real world geospatial and climate related challenges, building on the university’s existing ties with Heavy Industries Taxila and its stated focus on integrating academic knowledge with industrial expertise and applied research.
The agreement adds to a series of similar partnerships HITEC University has pursued in recent months as part of its strategy to expand research collaboration and industry engagement across its academic programmes. University leadership said they expect the partnership with AI Geo Navigators to contribute to innovation, academic excellence, and sustainable development outcomes over the coming years, positioning the collaboration as part of a broader effort to connect Pakistani universities with specialised technology firms working on climate and geospatial intelligence solutions.
