The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has announced the launch of the Access to Scientific Instrumentation Program (ASIP) 2025–26, inviting all public sector universities and research and development (R&D) organisations to submit data regarding their laboratories and scientific equipment. The initiative aims to strengthen Pakistan’s national research ecosystem by ensuring that advanced scientific and analytical testing facilities are available to scholars and researchers across the country through a unified and collaborative framework.
HEC’s ASIP program focuses on supporting Ph.D. scholars, researchers, and faculty by enabling access to state-of-the-art research infrastructure. Under this initiative, institutions with high-end analytical, testing, or experimental facilities will be listed on a centralised digital platform, making it easier for researchers from other organisations to identify and use these resources. This approach is designed to encourage collaboration, prevent duplication of equipment procurement, and ensure the optimal utilisation of resources already available in the country.
According to HEC, the Access to Scientific Instrumentation Program will play a key role in advancing multidisciplinary research by connecting researchers with the tools they need for experimentation and innovation. By improving accessibility to shared scientific facilities, the program seeks to build a culture of cooperation among universities and R&D centres while supporting cost-effective research. Public sector universities and research organisations have been encouraged to provide detailed information about their instrumentation and testing facilities to be included in the official ASIP database. This database will serve as a national repository of available scientific infrastructure, promoting transparency and efficient resource management in research operations.
Institutions interested in participating have been asked to submit their laboratory and equipment data before the deadline of October 14, 2025. HEC has made submission guidelines and the online data entry portal available through its official website https://hec.gov.pk/site/ASIP.
