The Digital Economy Enhancement Project held a workshop with the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination and its attached organizations, marking another step in building a connected, citizen centric digital government ecosystem for Pakistan. The session follows the earlier onboarding of departments representing sectors including taxation, education, social protection, regulatory services, public administration, trade facilitation, and labour welfare under the same initiative.

With the healthcare sector now being brought into the fold, the project aims to expand Pakistan’s digital transformation journey into health services as part of the broader National Citizen Services ecosystem. The goal is to advance a model of connected government in which citizens can access essential public services, including health related services, through a single, integrated digital platform rather than navigating separate systems for each government function.

Officials involved in the Digital Economy Enhancement Project described the effort as extending beyond simple digitization of individual services, framing it instead as an attempt to build an integrated, interoperable, and citizen first digital public infrastructure. The initiative is intended to ensure that as more government departments come online, the underlying systems remain connected to one another rather than operating as isolated digital silos, a challenge that has historically limited the effectiveness of e-governance efforts in Pakistan and elsewhere.

The health sector workshop adds to the project’s ongoing rollout across multiple government departments, reflecting a phased approach to bringing Pakistan’s public services into a unified digital framework. As the Digital Economy Enhancement Project continues onboarding additional sectors, the initiative is positioned as a foundational piece of the government’s broader digital public infrastructure agenda, aimed at improving service delivery and interoperability across federal institutions serving citizens nationwide.
