Minister for Power Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari has instructed all power distribution companies across Pakistan, including K-Electric, to maintain uninterrupted electricity supply during Sehri and Iftar in the holy month of Ramazan. The directive emphasizes the importance of consistent power delivery during peak consumption hours, ensuring households and businesses experience minimal disruption during religious observances. The Power Division has issued comprehensive standard operating procedures to all electricity distribution companies to facilitate efficient operations and service reliability throughout the month.

According to official instructions, all Discos are required to ensure that consumer complaints are addressed promptly, with mechanisms in place to resolve issues in real-time. Chief executive officers of the companies have been tasked with establishing dedicated control rooms to monitor electricity distribution, coordinate field teams, and provide immediate responses to emerging outages or disruptions. The control rooms are intended to serve as central command centers, enabling rapid communication and action to maintain network stability during high-demand periods.

The measures outlined by the minister also highlight a focus on proactive consumer service management. By directing Discos to implement structured monitoring and response systems, the government aims to enhance accountability and minimize inconvenience for electricity users. In addition to immediate complaint redressal, the SOPs include guidelines for preventive maintenance, load management, and coordination with regional field offices to ensure seamless electricity availability during both early morning and evening hours of Ramazan.

Industry analysts note that maintaining uninterrupted supply during Ramazan is a critical operational priority, particularly in urban centers like Karachi and Lahore where peak demand surges can strain infrastructure. The directive also reflects broader governmental efforts to improve service delivery, strengthen consumer confidence, and enhance the performance monitoring framework for power distribution companies nationwide. By focusing on both technological readiness and operational oversight, the ministry seeks to ensure that electricity services remain reliable and responsive throughout the festive period, supporting both domestic needs and commercial activity.
