OPPO, a leading worldwide smart device brand, today announced the contributions it has made in the past year to support the company’s corporate sustainability activities, which have been in place since 2004. These contributions emphasise OPPO’s accomplishments in increasing stakeholder well-being, including that of its product users, staff, and society as a whole, as well as the company’s environmental effect.

“Since our inception in 2004, OPPO has been dedicated to increasing the well-being of our employees, customers, and partners, as well as reducing our impact on the environment and society in general. OPPO’s Founder and CEO, Tony Chen, stated, “Sustainability has been a key component of our development strategy during this time, ensuring our ability to innovate and provide the greatest possible goods and services for our users in what we term the Internet of Experience.” “We will continue to invest in our sustainability in accordance with our brand objective, ‘Technology for Mankind, Kindness for the World,’ and in keeping with our fundamental value of Benfen.

TÜV Rheinland, a major testing service provider, confirmed OPPO’s achievements in sustainability, recognising OPPO’s contributions based on worldwide standards. This third-party verification validates OPPO’s efforts to build a circular economy, which include promoting the use of sustainable materials and reducing waste. OPPO currently uses environmentally friendly manufacturing techniques, which include design, packaging, upgrades, and material processing, among other things. As a result, TÜV Rheinland certified OPPO’s sustainable resource management and emissions reduction efforts.

As a global citizen, OPPO is collaborating with suppliers to perform sustainable management projects and collaboratively develop a more sustainable ecosystem, in addition to its own social responsibility efforts. Suppliers are forbidden from participating in unlawful or unethical actions, such as monopolistic activity, bribery, or corruption, under the OPPO Social Responsibility Code of Conduct, for example.

These efforts have resulted in a number of significant accomplishments in 2020, which are detailed below.

OPPO recycled 13 times more goods by weight in 2020 than it did in 2019, as part of its contribution to the circular economy. This was bolstered by the company’s attempts to use more renewable materials, with recycled plastic accounting for 35% of the plastic in its smartphone components. In addition, by 2020, the corporation will have reduced general waste by 42.7 percent and indirect greenhouse gas emissions by 20 percent.

Employee well-being has always been at the heart of OPPO’s business operations when it comes to employees, who are the lifeblood of the company. In 2020, the organisation will host over 670,000 hours of educational sessions and training programmes to help employees plan and grow their careers. OPPO also cares about the millions of customers who use its products every day throughout the world, and has taken significant steps to further secure their data privacy. These include adding a variety of unique features to its ColorOS 11 operating system, as well as achieving ISO (ISO/IEC 27001, 27018, and 27019) certifications for tight data privacy regulations.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic, OPPO joined forces with the international community and pooled resources to provide help and support to people all across the world. In the Philippines, OPPO partnered with Save the Children to provide 100 OPPO A12e smartphones and 100 Rock Space Bluetooth headsets to kids receiving remote education. In Thailand, OPPO gave medical kits to more than 13 hospitals and donated over 20,000 N95 face masks to medical professionals at Bangkok’s Siriraj Hospital.

Through programmes like the Campus Global Emerging Artists Project Renovators (Renovators), OPPO also supports communities and culture around the world. In 2020, OPPO will launch the second Renovators initiative, which will provide 3,000 students from 150 of the world’s finest universities the opportunity to unleash their creative imagination.

Long-term thinking and commitment are required to have a meaningful and long-lasting impact on sustainability. OPPO will continue to advance its own environmental initiatives while partnering with industry partners to help everyone have a better future.
