Air University hosted the inauguration ceremony of the National Centre of Cyber Security (NCCS) where the University’s Vice Chancellor Air Vice Marshal Faaiz Amir (Retd.) along with faculty members welcomed the honourable Chief Guest Mr. Ahsan Iqbal – Federal Member for Interior and Minister For Planning, Development and Reforms, Government of Pakistan.
Esteemed dignitaries who graced the occasion included Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed – Chairman, Higher Education Commission, Pakistan , Mr. Athar Osama – Member Science and Technology and ICT at Planning Commission , Pakistan.

Considering the significance of Cyber Security as a global problem thats costs the global economy $400 billion annually, this event will enlighten the attendees about the over all impact of this rapidly growing challenge particularly affecting the developing countries.
Henceforth, knowing the pivotal need for new initiatives and to bridge the skill gap to make Pakistan self-sustainable in this realm, National Centre of Cyber Security (NCCS) will server as a platform for boosting Cyber Security related R&D to have imperative footprint in international Cyber Security industry. The core objectives will ensure to build national capacity to carry out R&D in the respective field of Cyber Security to fulfil Pakistan’s Cyber Security requirements through technology commercialisation and licensing by way of vibrant Cyber Security ecosystem.

The establishment of NCCS has been sponsored by Higher Education Commission (HEC), which will be executed by Air University, PAF Complex, E-9, Islamabad.The operation and maintenance will be taken care by the mentioned above affiliated labs.
NCCS aspires to be the hub of innovation and scientific research to develop the tools and technology to protect Pakistan’s cyber space. The centre intends on assembling strong research laboratories to conduct research in the areas of Cybercrime Investigations, Digital Forensics, Intrusion Detection Systems, Malware Analysis, Critical Infrastructure Security, Mobile Phone Security, IoT Security and Cyber Reconnaissance. Each partner university will house one laboratory.
