Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) Group, the country’s largest integrated telecom and ICT services provider, has announced another strong financial performance for the half year ended June 30, 2025. In its board meeting held in Islamabad, the company reported a 16% year-on-year increase in revenue, reflecting continued momentum across its broadband, enterprise, wholesale, and mobile operations. PTCL itself recorded 12% revenue growth driven by a remarkable 62% surge in Flash Fiber subscriptions and 15% growth in business solutions, further solidifying its position as the backbone of connectivity in Pakistan. At the same time, carrier and wholesale operations grew 18%, while the international segment delivered a 10% revenue increase, showcasing PTCL’s growing role in regional and global connectivity. Operating profit rose 38% to Rs. 7.9 billion, though the company posted a net loss of Rs. 3.3 billion due to a one-off adjustment linked to a Supreme Court ruling on pension liabilities.

PTCL Group’s subsidiaries also demonstrated resilience and expansion during HY 2025. Ufone 4G achieved 17% topline growth year-on-year and generated a strong EBIT of Rs. 7.6 billion, a sharp improvement from just Rs. 0.7 billion in the same period last year, supported by cost optimization and sustained demand. Its subscriber base grew to 17.5 million, representing 13% growth, while nationwide coverage enhancements strengthened customer experience. Ufone also introduced “Super 5,” a shared connectivity plan designed for up to five users, targeting families and small groups with bundled data and voice services. Meanwhile, Ufone’s fully digital sub-brand Onic crossed 300,000 subscribers in May 2025, achieving 132% year-on-year growth and establishing itself as a model for seamless digital-first engagement. UBank continued its upward trajectory, posting 25% revenue growth by modernizing its branch operations, enhancing efficiency, and delivering stronger customer service. UPaisa, PTCL Group’s mobile wallet, also expanded rapidly, surpassing one million monthly active users with 155% growth, while the UPTCL self-care app crossed five million monthly active users, reflecting deepening digital adoption.

PTCL also achieved key milestones in expanding Pakistan’s role in global digital infrastructure. A landmark Trans-Pakistan connectivity agreement with Chinese operators was signed, strengthening east-west trade routes, while submarine cable partnerships enabled wet segment capacity sales from Singapore to Marseille, enhancing international bandwidth availability. Domestically, PTCL further extended its FTTH footprint, delivering high-speed fiber to households nationwide and building Pakistan’s first 5G-ready smart residential community, designed to support next-generation digital lifestyles. Enterprise solutions gained traction with major wins in FinTech, IoT, and M2M segments, while partnerships with CMOs and satellite providers boosted wholesale growth, particularly in underserved areas such as AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan. In customer innovation, PTCL became the first local telecom operator to introduce automated bill delivery via WhatsApp, simplifying customer interactions. It also partnered with Apple distributor Mercantile to offer exclusive iPhone 16 bundles, combining devices with extended warranties, insurance, and telecom packages.

Beyond its commercial success, PTCL Group continued to expand its social impact through its “Dil Se” platform, which focuses on digital inclusion and community empowerment. Under the Ba-Ikhtiar initiative, women entrepreneurs designed the official Peshawar Zalmi kit for PSL 2025, earning international attention on BBC. An AI-powered fashion show presented at Ba-Ikhtiar’s graduation ceremony was also featured by the World Economic Forum, highlighting Pakistan’s growing role in blending technology with social progress. The Group’s Clean Water Project in Thar, which initially targeted 15,000 beneficiaries, has now expanded to reach 200,000 individuals, with new sustainable solutions such as wells, RO plants, and rainwater harvesting being rolled out. These initiatives, alongside industry recognition at the Pakistan Digital Awards and Effie Pakistan, underscore PTCL’s role not only as a telecom leader but also as a driver of digital inclusion and social transformation.
